Worst Match Up? Best Match Up?
Mon Jan 28, 2008 at 11:16:15 AM PDT
Was just listening to Thom Hartmann's radio program and his DC correspondent just mentioned the possibility of a McCain Bloomberg match up. That would be a formidable team financially speaking.
I know this is a short diary and possibly not worthy of Daily Kos. What the heck. Here goes.
Tony Snow can't live on Minimum Wage
Sat Aug 18, 2007 at 07:17:45 AM PDT
I don't about you, but I find it really nauseating that Tony Snow's annual income of $168,000 is not sufficient according to the news stories surrounding his departure.
I think that this is yet another slap in the face to Americans who have been working multiple jobs trying to keep their head above water.. This guy is the mouth piece for the White House who has absolutely no regard for reality.
To think that this guy is a member of the Party who fought so hard to prevent the recent and pathetic increase in minimum wage.
Please don't misunderstand me, I am very aware that Mr. Snow is battling cancer. I do have compassion and sincerely hopes he beats this. Perhaps it would have been a little easier to digest the reasons for his departure had he claimed 'medical reasons'.
We don't need any more evidence that this White House is out of touch. Sadly there are volumes of proof. I write this as I personally felt insulted by the insinuation and fact, that earning $168,000 a year just doesn't cut it if you work at the White House.
Thanks for letting me vent.
Another Republican Caught with his Pants Down?
Fri Dec 01, 2006 at 09:09:12 AM PDT
This is another example of the hypocrisy that haunts the Republican Party.
After enduring months of pre-election campaign commercials of Republicans spewing forth the importance of Morals, Ethics, and Values....we learn of another hypocrite.
Discouraged, but not giving up in Seattle
Sun Oct 29, 2006 at 09:52:15 AM PDT
Today's front page of the New York Times has the following headline 'Democrats Push to Counter GOP in Turnout Race - Disadvantage is Feared'
I understand that voter apathy has been discussed ad nauseum but frankly, I am pissed off.
I made a pledge to myself after I recovered from my bout of depression that started in November 2004, that I would get involved yet again. I don't really make a whole lot of money, yet I made contributions time and time again back in 2004, and again in 2006. I have given to Act Blue and the various PAC's of my most admired democrats, Wes Clark, Barak Obama, Jim Webb and Ned Lamont. I talk on the phone the whole damn day at my office and the last thing that is appealing to me is getting on the phone on a weekend, yet I am. I decided to host a 'Call for Change Party' in my hometown of Seattle. This is where I need your help.
A 'Grass Roots' effort results in Probable Recall Election
Thu Oct 06, 2005 at 04:28:56 PM PDT
The Seattle Times newspaper is reporting that it appears that efforts to launch a recall election against the Republican mayor of Spokane, Jim West will succeed. West has espoused anti gay views in the past and yet it seems that he himself is a gay man. There are allegations that he used his position and office in seeking dates with young men.
The recall effort was started by an unemployed single mom... Need I say more?
From the article:
"The campaign to gather signatures on recall petitions was led by Shannon Sullivan, an unemployed single mom who successfully argued her cause before the state Supreme Court in August after West's lawyers appealed the ballot language.
A group called Citizens for Integrity in Government, which runs the www.westmustgo.com Web site, has taken over the campaign.
State Public Disclosure Commission reports show that the campaign so far has been a grass roots affair."
People can effect change.
McDermott makes list of top 100 Worst Americans!?
Tue Jul 05, 2005 at 05:17:58 PM PDT
This is really strange as I believe he should have the honor of being on the top 100 Greatest Americans List!
As reported in today's Seattle Times:
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2002357581_mcdermott05m.html
McDermott, as it happens, is No. 38. The Democratic congressman from Seattle apparently doesn't pose as big a threat to democracy as comedian-and-leftist radio talkster Franken. But McDermott presents more of a problem than, say, feminist Gloria Steinem, at No. 42, or Enron's disgraced chief executive, Kenneth Lay, who lumbered in at No. 45.
Almost as bad for the United States as McDermott is the city of Seattle, which is described as "ground zero for overpriced coffee," home of more "progressive loonies than anyplace else on the Left Coast."
Well, In this context...you can call me a 'progressive loony' and I'm damn proud of it.
Bush Administration 'excises' information from report....again.
